Why You’ll Love This Spicy Avocado Dip
This isn’t your average guacamole. While guac tends to be chunky with a milder flavor, this dip is blended until smooth for a creamier texture—more like a sauce or spread. Using ripe avocados as the base gives it a rich consistency, while red onion and lime juice add brightness. Jalapeños bring heat, and cilantro adds a refreshing finish. And unlike guacamole, this dip leans spicier and smoother—great for dipping or drizzling.
Tip for Controlling the Spice Level
This dip is incredibly customizable when it comes to heat:
- To make it milder: Remove the seeds from the jalapeños, cut back on the red pepper flakes, or add more avocado or lime juice to tone down the heat.
- To turn up the heat: Keep the seeds in, use spicier peppers like serrano or habanero, or simply add more red pepper flakes.
Make Ahead & Storage Instructions
To store, transfer the dip to an airtight container and press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to slow browning. It keeps well in the fridge for up to two days. If it darkens a bit, just give it a quick stir before serving. You can also prep the ingredients a few hours in advance and blend just before serving for the freshest flavor.
