What Makes Cuban Sliders Special

Cuban sliders are all about the layering of flavors. These delicious sandwiches are filled to the brim with savory ham, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, tangy pickles, and a the perfect amount of mustard. The combination of these ingredients creates a delicious harmony of tastes and textures in every bite.

Tips for Making Perfect Cuban Sliders

  1. Quality Ingredients: Use high-quality ham and pulled pork to ensure the best flavor. You can roast your own ham and pork or use leftovers for convenience. We used our leftover maple-glazed ham for these, and it was delicious!
  2. Bread Choice: Opt for soft, buttery slider buns that will complement the savory fillings. We like to use Brioche, but you could also use our Texas Roadhouse Rolls, or plain dinner rolls. Many people like to use Kings Hawaiian Rolls too.
  3. Pickles: Classic cubans use dill pickles, but you can use a sweet pickle if that is your preference. Thinly sliced pickles work best to balance the other ingredients.

Storage and Make-Ahead Tips

Cuban sliders can be prepared ahead of time, making them an excellent option for gatherings. Simply assemble the sliders and then store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking. When you’re ready to serve, simply bake until the cheese is melted and the sliders are warmed through.

To store leftovers, wrap each slider individually in aluminum foil and refrigerate for up to three days. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes, or until heated through. Avoid microwaving as it can make the bread soggy.
