Ingredients & Substitutions
- Salmon: You’ll need about 1 1/2 pounds of salmon, which is typically four fillets with the skin removed. Cut the salmon into even pieces for consistent cooking. Season them with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. If you’re using frozen salmon, make sure to thaw it completely before cutting.
- Hot Honey: This sweet and spicy condiment is perfect for salmon! You can use store-bought or homemade hot honey, then heat it with unsalted butter for the glaze.
Adjusting Spice Level
You can easily modify the heat of your hot honey. For a milder version, reduce the amount of hot honey or substitute regular honey. If you prefer extra heat, add a few drops of hot sauce or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze.
How to Serve Hot Honey Salmon Bites
Here are a few serving ideas for these salmon bites:
- Serve as an appetizer with toothpicks, along with extra hot honey for drizzling.
- Pair with sides like parmesan roasted asparagus, garlic parmesan rice, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
- Use the salmon bites as taco or wrap fillings with your favorite toppings.
- Create a salmon bowl with grains like rice or quinoa, assorted veggies, and greens. Top with more hot honey for extra flavor!
- Toss the salmon bites into cooked pasta for a quick and flavorful meal.
How to Store Hot Honey Salmon Bites
To store leftovers, let the salmon cool to room temperature first. If possible, store the sauce and salmon separately in airtight containers in the fridge. They’ll keep for a couple of days. Reheat the bites in the oven, microwave, or air fryer to maintain their texture.
Hot Honey Salmon Bites
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 Pounds salmon, skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/4 Cup hot honey, homemade or store-bought
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 390°F.
- In a large bowl, mix together the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Add the salmon cubes and gently toss until evenly coated.
- Arrange the salmon cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. If your air fryer is small, work in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook the salmon for 9-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 140-145°F.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter with the hot honey, stirring until combined and warmed through.
- Add the cooked salmon bites to the saucepan and gently toss to coat in the honey-butter mixture.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
