Homemade Pancake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 ¼ cups whole milk, room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • Maple syrup, for topping
  • unsalted butter, softened, for topping

Instructions

  • In a large bowl add flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt and whisk to combine.
  • In a separate bowl, add the egg, milk, and butter. and whisk together to combine.
  • Add the wet mixture to the flour mixture and stir to combine. Do not overmix, some lumps are ok.
  • Preheat a nonstick griddle to 300°F and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  • Pour ⅓ cup of batter onto the griddle and spread the pancake into an even circle, about 4 inches wide.
  • Working in batches, cook the pancake on one side for 3-4 minutes, or until the bubbles on the surface of the pancake start to pop and the bottom is golden brown.
  • Flip over the pancakes and cook an additional 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Repeat with the remaining pancake batter.
  • Serve warm, topped with softened butter and maple syrup.
