French Toast

French toast: A classic breakfast dish of bread soaked in egg mixture, fried until golden, and topped with syrup or fruit.

Ingredients

French Toast

  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 ¼ cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 10-12 slices thick bread, such as Texas toast, or brioche

Toppings

  • unsalted butter (softened), for topping
  • maple syrup, for topping
  • fresh fruit, for topping

Instructions

  • Heat a griddle to 350°F, and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  • Beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon with wire whisk until smooth.
  • Dip bread into egg mixture, adequately coating all sides. Place the coated bread on the hot griddle and cook for 2-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  • Serve, topped with butter, syrup, and fresh fruit.
