Creamed Corn

Creamy, comforting creamed corn is the perfect homemade side dish—so good, you'll never go back to canned again!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages (10 ounces each) frozen corn kernels, thawed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon chopped basil, optional

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, combine the corn, heavy cream, granulated sugar, kosher salt, black pepper, and butter.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the whole milk and all-purpose flour, then pour it into the corn mixture.
  • Cook, stirring occasionally, until the liquid begins to thicken.
  • Garnish with chopped basil, if desired.
