Fluffy cheddar garlic biscuits brushed with buttery garlic topping, an easy side dish for holidays, soups, and weeknight meals.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
  • 2 cups mild cheddar cheese, shredded

Butter Topping

  • ¼ cup (½ of a stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, minced

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Set it aside to cool slightly while preparing the dry ingredients.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of the kosher salt.
  • Add the whole milk to the slightly cooled melted butter and stir to combine.
  • Pour the milk and butter mixture over the dry ingredients. Use a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to stir just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  • Use your hands or a large cookie scoop to portion out about ½ cup of dough per biscuit and drop them onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each. For smaller biscuits (about ¼ cup of dough), use a second parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the tops are just lightly golden brown.
  • While the biscuits bake, melt the remaining butter in a small microwave-safe bowl. Stir in the salt and the parsley.
  • As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush the tops generously with the butter mixture.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
