Wonton Soup

Quick and cozy wonton soup made with store-bought wontons in a simple broth. No spinach, no garnishes, ready in 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon white pepper
  • 20 store-bought frozen wontons, chicken, pork, shrimp, or veggie
  • scallions, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large pot over medium heat, add sesame oil.
  • Add ginger and garlic, stirring constantly and cook for 1 minute.
  • Pour in chicken broth and water, stirring to combine.
  • Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, salt, and white pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Once boiling, carefully add the frozen wontons. Stir gently to separate them.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until the wontons float and the wrappers are fully cooked through, about 4 to 6 minutes.
  • Ladle soup into bowls and serve hot garnished with green onions.
