Ingredients

  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt optional

Instructions

  • Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cool running water for 1 to 2 minutes to remove its natural bitter coating.
  • In a medium saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, combine the rinsed quinoa, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover with the lid, and let it simmer for 15 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the quinoa looks tender.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and leave it covered for 5 minutes to allow the quinoa to finish steaming and become fluffy.
  • Remove the lid and gently fluff the quinoa with a fork. Serve warm, or let it cool and store in an airtight container for meal prep.
