Ingredients

Burgers

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • pounds ground beef
  • ½ small yellow onion, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns

Toppings (Optional)

  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 4 large lettuce leaves
  • 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • Pickle slices
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard

Instructions

Prepare the Patties

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, minced onion, Worcestershire sauce, egg, garlic, seasoned salt, hamburger seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty.

Cook the Burgers

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the patties and cook for about 5 minutes without moving them. Flip once and cook an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the burgers reach your desired doneness.
  • Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each burger, cover the pan, and let the cheese melt for about 1–2 minutes.

Toast the Buns

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Lightly butter or spray the inside of the hamburger buns. Place them on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 4-5 minutes, or until lightly golden.

Assemble the Cheeseburgers

  • Place each cheeseburger on a toasted bun. Top with your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, and mustard, as desired.
  • Serve immediately.
